It’s incredible to think that the liberation was only 80 years ago.
I hope we never forget.
I’m v. glad that King Charles attended the commemoration.
Unfortunately, there will be detractors and deniers who will argue that the Holocaust remembrance is being overplayed or seek to minimise the uniqueness of Jewish suffering.
Or, especially nowadays, people will attempt a Nazi comparison vis-a-vis Israel and Palestine. This is to weaponise the Jewish trauma against the Jews to further attack them.
Today the dire lessons of the Holocaust and the Nazi Third Reich have been forgotten by many who are keen to re-enact modern versions. It's hard not to despair.

In an article by Free Press, it was reported that the tour operators in the area exhibit a lackadaisical attitude during orientation tours, treating the location as though it were merely a theme park.
ReplyDeleteThe Taoiseach, Michael Higgins, used Holocaust Memorial Day to vent his views on Gaza/Israel. Completely inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteI wrote a post last week saying that I believe the Holocaust will be forgotten. This is not what I want but it is what I believe is happening.
