Some joyous news today!!
So, today Hamas released hostages Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher.
I am going to be writing about this ceasefire agreement in the next few days. Originally, I felt there was nothing but disadvantage to Israel in the agreement and was perplexed as to why it was agreed to by Israel. The price of this agreement is heavy. However, I also feel that Israelis and Jews everywhere need some respite from the psychological toll that the hostages situation has had.
I cannot even imagine how these three families, and the friends of these three hostages must be feeling right now. 🙏🫂
I am especially delighted as Emily Damari is a fellow Brit.
It is good to see hostages released, though only three at present. I can't help feeling that it will give Hamas the opportunity to reinforce their troops and weaponry. In six weeks, the war will resume, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. Hamas won't honour any truce agreement.
DeleteI've been waiting for your voice, Liam, which is a very lonely voice here in blogland, so few understand what's really going on. Your question about the price we pay is correct, the answer is probably the great commitment we feel towards each other. We have a kind of mutual guarantee that stems from the fact that we are not many in the world. With all the hatred towards us, all we can do is stick to each other and therefore we will never give up on anyone, even if it comes at a heavy price.

DeleteWhat a nasty comment full of the usual personal attacks that antisemitism foments.
DeleteAnd, as usual, no actual arguments presented to consider for the opposite side of an argument.
Its always the same.
Anonymous comments off for a while.
Thank you for commenting Yael.
DeleteYes, I think the value of preserving & protecting human life is much greater for the Israeli side than the Hamas maniacs.
Three lovely young women who otherwise would have been studying, creating families or establishing their careers. Even though the rest of their lives may be traumatised, I still think we saw a miracle here.
ReplyDeleteHi Hels
DeleteI can't even imagine what the horror and evil those girls went through and the therapy needed (probably for the rest of their lives).
At least, they have the embrace of their loved ones from now onwards.
What a wonderful thing for three young ladies and their families.
ReplyDeleteGood news for the surviving hostages. I heard plenty from my friend Joel about the ceasefire treaty. So odd that we hear the fine prints of the deal.
ReplyDeleteGood news! I hope the ceasefire lasts as long as intended so everyone can get home.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news and I'm so pleased for those 3 and their family and friends. What they endured during their captivity must have been awful - one can only imagine, but we are not in their shoes, so we really don't know!
ReplyDeleteObviously the freedom of these three is a good thing. One can't help thinking of how many hostages remain in the hands of those sadists and rapists. Even Hamas (or what's left of it) may not know the exact number now.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see what you have to say about the ceasefire agreement in general.
