On Saturday, I went to visit to the famous French gothic Cathedral of Notre-Dame.
This was my first time visiting it. It has been seriously restored recently.
For me, the highlight was the iconic stained glass windows.
The Facade
Front of Notre Dame.
Two large towers and a big round Rose Window.
Three doors at the bottom decorated with statues and carvings.
Queues and lots of tourists.
Entrance queue.
Beautiful carvings in the Tympanum of stories from the Bible.
Doors are v. old with intricate designs carved into them.
Floral iron hinges on the doors,
Attributed to the 14-century blacksmith Biscornet.
The Tympanum above the central door.
It depicts the Last Judgment.
Jesus with angels and saints surrounding him.
The sinners are being led away beneath by fiendish gargoyles.
To the side of the Tympanum above the central portal.
They're supposed to represent the Kings of Judah from the Old Testament.
Statue of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus.
It's a famous statute - The Virgin of the pillar.
Conveying maternal love and tenderness.
Life-size stone statue of the 14th century.
Christ statute.
Thumb and two extended fingers.

The Interior
Me.
Walking down the nave.
The Cathedral's high ceilings and tall columns are classic Gothic architecture.
I like the light pouring in via the windows and candles.
Illumination heightens the sense of awe.
Miscellaneous
Votive candles
Stained glass windows of a chapel.
The Rose Windows of the Notre-Dame
Petal-like stained glass windows
They were apparently saved by fire fighters in the fire of 2019.
Incredibly beautiful Gothic stained glass windows.
A hallmark of its medieval architecture.
The Choir screen
Separating the choir from the rest of the Cathedral
It tells the story of the life of Christ.
Part of the choir screen.
Probably the Entry of the Jesus into Jerusalem?
The wrought iron choir screen
Separating the nave from the choir area
Temporary art installation
"The Yellow Disk" by Jean-Michel Othoniel
Representing the sun and bring light into the cathedral
The Rose Windows of the opposite side.
A reserved area at the apse with an attendant for private worship.
The Pietà of Notre Dame Cathedral by Nicolas Coustou.
Also saved from the fire.
Didn't get a chance to get closer and get a better look.
