Israel hitting military targets, Iran lobbing missiles at civilians
Note the contrast:
Israel took out military airport, major long-range missile bases, Iran’s primary nuclear enrichment site, the four most senior generals, and now the intelligence chief.
Again the same contrast between the tactics of democracies and totalitarians. Israel obviously planned its attacks with high precision, while the Iranian theocracy is firing missiles into Israel at random. All the pictures I've seen of damage in Israel are from residential areas with no military significance. Of course the jihadist war against Israel has always had extermination as its goal.
Precisely, they hit apartment blocks and Israel targets military assets and personnel. It's worth pointing out that the iron dome (while v. impressive) can only do so much. Israel has to keep going, in my view. The regime in Iran can't allowed to continue. This would defer the evitable conflict & resolution into the future.
I have been anxiously calling my daughter in law and cousin in Tel Aviv, but they both believe they and their children can survive. However as my son died in Israel last year, I have no confidence whatsoever.
I fail to comprehend why Iran is permitted to attack Israeli civilians while Israel is restrained from responding in kind. Iran has violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, yet the consequences it faces are limited to mild economic sanctions. Israel’s security is at grave risk, as is that of the free world
Iran's stated aim is to destroy Israel and all Jews. Israel cannot allow that to be enforced. The rest of the world cannot allow Iran to create its own nuclear weapons.
roentare,I am so happy to read a comment like yours, few understand this, we are in a war of survival that was forced upon us, and we still do not go out against the Iranian people and hope that they will understand what damage their regime is doing to them. This is the third night that we have not slept, running to shelters and trying not to get hurt. Even now during the day there are alarms because of the unmanned aerial vehicles that carry explosives and are sent here, and even a Houthi missile that was sent here an hour ago and set off the alarms.
It's valuable that the Israeli government makes a strong distinction between the Iranian people and the theocracy. Most Iranians hate the regime and many even support the Israeli airstrikes as a blow against their oppressors. Netanyahu has made speeches addressed directly to the Iranian people as fellow victims of the regime. Eventually the theocracy will fall; this conflict might even help bring that about. If Iran becomes a democracy it will likely become an ally of Israel and the West.
I agree. As with all totalitarians, there is a sharp division between the government and the people. I have met a good few Iranians in the UK who had to escape and get out of that hell hole. It's amazing to watch clips on youtube of Iran before Khomeini .
